The "Manaies", the roman soldiers, go over the streets of Girona to deliver the pennon to the home of person who will carry it during the Procession. This insignia of association will remain and kept safe in his house till Good Friday Procession.
Good Friday Procession. Procession of the Holly Burial.
On Friday, Maniple of "Manaies" pick up the man in charge of the pennon and go with him to the Headquater of the Confraternity to wait there till the bigining of the Procession of the Holly Burial. At ten o'clock the Confraters and the "Manaies" go to the Cathedral. When the bells of the tower sound the first soldiers leave from the main entrance of the Cathedral while iniciating the Procession. They decede the stairs at a low pace while hiting with the lances with the floor at the rythm of the music of the band. They are followed by the Confraters wearin g grey habits and red mantle. It outstands to moments when the "Manaies" execute different formations such as the Star and the Wheel, consisting in the harmonious corssing of groups of soldiers.
They also participate in the Procession other Confraternities such as "Jesus and the children", "The Holly Face", "The Pure Blood", "The Holly Sepulcher", "The Silence"...
After Midnight, the Procession comes back to the Cathedral where the "Manaies" are placed at each side of the stairs. Then also arrive the Confraternities which are placed at the top of the stairs. While this happens it is read fragments of the Evangel as well it is descived the meaning of each Confraternity. Then the Bishop adress some words to the people attending the ceremony and ends by singing the Credo. The Procession of the Holly Burial ends by Maniple of "Manaies" going down the stairs of the Cathedral.
