The Museu d’Història de la Ciutat (Museum of the history of the city) is located in the center of the Old Quarter, in the old monastery of Sant Antoni, from the 18th century. After 1845 it became the institute of the province of Girona until 1968. The museum reviews the history of the city, starting from the first citizens up to date. The collections include archeologic pieces, historical objects, illustrations and maps from each period and models. You can also visit the cloister and the cementery of the previous monastery. Nowadays, the building also hosts the Arxiu històric Municipal (Histrorical Archive of the city).
